Nitrogen Fixing Trees Zone 10

Nitrogen-fixing trees are a fantastic addition to any garden, especially in Southern California (Zone 10), because they improve soil fertility naturally, provide shade, and support biodiversity. Here’s a list of excellent nitrogen-fixing trees that thrive in our warm Mediterranean climate:

Acacia

Makes a great privacy hedge as well.

Cassia

Desert Ironwood

Ice Cream Bean

I have this one as it is edible and delicious.

Mesquite

Edible & wood can be used to make things like furniture. Also drought tolerant. Commonly used as fodder for animals as well and since most varieties are spiky I suggest for a fencing tree for large properties as well.

Mimosa

In full bloom is very unique with bright pink flowers.

Pacific Wax Myrtle

Palo Verde

Edible and drought tolerant with pretty yellow flowers.

Red Alder

River Tamarind

Royal Poinciana Tree
